UFC 96: Quinton Rampage Jackson vs Keith Jardine

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will face Keith Jardine in the main event at UFC 96 on March 7 from the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

Team Jackson trained fighter, Keith Jardine is coming off a win over Brandon Vera at UFC 89. He was rumored to be facing Brazilian Luis Cane, but that apparently fell through coming in to UFC 93.

Rampage is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Wanderlei Silva at UFC 92. His knockout power will provide a difficult task to overcome for Jardine as he is chin has been questionable at times.

nothin is for sure whenever jardines the underdog he shines. i wouldnt bet agaisnt rampage but i think it will be competititive if rampage doesnt knock him out in the first. jardine throws a lot of people off and gives them fits. he also has one of the meanest leg kicks in the 205 division and rampage is allergic to checking kicks. forest fucked pages legs up and wand was landing leg kicks before he got knocked out. if jardine has any chance of winning its with his vicious leg kicks but then again thats how he got knocked out by wand was throwing a leg kick. just some food for thought.

cant even agree with the under dog, my friends and I call him the coin flip fighter cause hes got about a 50/50 chance of beating anyone he steps in the ring with.

He is not even close to being a 50/50 in this fight. I give him about 10% chance to win. He will not avoid punches from rampage. He may be able to drop and outstrike chuck but he cant do that to rampage. KO round 1.

this match sucks ass i cant believe its gonna be the main event i think he should get the rematch with with Forrest if anything not to somebody who lost to guy he just KO in the first round. this match makes no since, maybe because Jardine won over Vera but who cares its not like Jardine destroyed vera, iono this makes no since and definitely should not be the main event!!!!

the rest of the card is going to have to be pretty damn good for me to buy it. I cannot figure out how their are 5 belts and we cannot have a title fight on every card. RIDICULOUS!

i agree ther should be a title defense on every card ther should be any excuses, thats wat should be expected from a champion and thats taking it easy if a champion cant fight every 5 months then he aint no champion.

i would have like to see jardine vs cain, Jackson vs Evans..

I think Jackson could in by knock out but i could also see jadine winnning A 3 round war because of jardines leg kicks and he weird striking style

This both a interesting and unexpected matchup. On one hand Jardine has been unconsistant, yet he does have some viscous kicks, as displayed in the Liddell fight. Also, this could be his stratagy, considering Griffin had success with kicks against Rampage in their fight. I still think Rampage wins this fight by KO or TKO, due to his KO power and Jardine being very suseptable to being KO'ed latley.

This is total BS…Rampage deserves his rematch for the title, now he has to face this lard of shit….and possibly be knocked out of the title picture, if he wins this fight he better be the next to get a shot at the title. Think about it he never really lost to Forrest it was a decision that could of gone either way so technically speaking its been awhile since rampage has really lost..if you get my drift. So he should get a rematch soon based upon that. Rampage should win this one.

i don't know that Ramage deserves a title shot so quickly but this match-up is gonna be an easy win for Rampage. This is not a good stylistic match-up for Jardine. Jardine does better against slower, solid, tough opponents. Rampage is to powerful and athletic. A quick win here should get him a title shot.

If Lyota wins in UFC94, he will get the next title shot.

Jackson is first in line for Rashad. White said that Rashad requested time off to heal before his first defense. Jackson asked white for a fight anyway, so he gets a warm up match with Jardine. It's likely that the title fight between Jackson and Rashad is going to be marked on the UFC 100 card.

Jardine did out strike him and not to mention he dropped chuck. Sorry but chuck only got a split decision loss b/c of who he is. He clearly lost 2 rounds. And it will be hard for Rampage to beat Jardine worse when he was KO'd in the first 20 secondsby Wanderlei. What sucks about this is I went to the last Nationwide UFC 82 event but it had a main event worth watching at the time. Hendo vs A. Silva. Not this joke of a fight. I cant believe Jardine is even gonna be on an actual Main Event fight on an event that is PPV. I can see him doing a main event for a UFN but PPV wtf??

Rampage has everything to lose and Jardine has eveything to gain in this match. Jardine beat Vera WOW who cares. Let Jardine fight Silva or Shogun. Rampage should be fighting Machida or Evans. Now there would be a fight worth watching.
