Damn, chuck lost, I thought he was going into this fight more aggressive but defensive as well, he got too aggressive and got cought, I think this may very well be the end of the Iceman on the UFC. He's bound to get other offers though, hope to see him fight again.

Its a shame to see Chuck Liddell go down like that, but i kinda expected it. His chin isn't what it once was and he never evolved enough to keep up with the level in the UFC 205lb division. I really hope he retires, continuing can only dent his legacy.

I told you guys Chuck was gonna get KO'd. Shugon is way better and chuck is way overrated. He cant strike with the best strikers. He can only beat the guys who have bad stand up. Also I said that Chuck was gonna have the same D with his hands down and get caught. Hell yes I am so fucking happy. Thx for proving me right Shogun. CHUCK GOT KNOCKED THE FUCK OUT AGAIN!!!

Well I may have patted myself on the back a little too much there. I just got sick of people saying Chuck is a very good striker.

steve i give u credit chuck did get caught and knocked out but if u got in the ring u wouldnt last 2 sec with the worst striker in the world chuck is a legend in the sport hes the reoson the ufc is where it is cause of him so fuck u dude

    April 18, 2009 at 3:18 pm

don't take it so personal shawn, if rua got knocked out i don't think you would be complaining.steve was one of the few who know shogun was the better fighter i hate to see chuck go out like that but he has knocked out plenty of people and had a great career i hope he fights at least once more and goes out on a win.

I feel bad for Chuck but I'm more happy for RUA.

He came out looking almost like he did in pride.

We all know if Rua lost this fight, even if he looked good he would have been ousted and Dana would have gloated saying pride guys are shit and they would have been talking some crazy shit about chuck being a contender again.

This way, Rua stays and gets a better fight and better money next time and chuck isn't going anywhere.

IF he retires they'll bring him back in a year just like they did with Couture.

Leites disappointed me sooo much, every time silva was being aggressive, he went to the ground, I understand you have to play to you're strengths but this was annoying, the booing from the crowd was demoralizing.

Shawn dont get all hurt and start crying. I would think you would be use to it seeing as how Chuck has got raped so much as of late. Its fans like you that made him so overhyped. You saying he is the greatest. Sorry maybe now you will realize that he is in fact overrated. Sure I didnt know he was going to get knocked out but then again hmm I guess I did;) Dont worry they will give him a fighter with not so good stand up and he will get a tko. But as far as beating a legit striker. Well you seen what happens when he tries that.

  21. dane drebin

    April 18, 2009 at 6:51 pm

ya man we all saw wat happens when he faces a legit striker like wandy, vitor and overeem he beat all three. chuck isnt over rated he is just old and he used to be able to take bombs while giving it back but his chin is gone and its a sad thing to watch. chucks a pioneer of the sport and i was very sad to see him lose. My hat is off to shogun for comming in shape and looking awesome tonight i definetly proved me wrong but chuck looked just as good until he got knocked out. it sucks chuck used to have a way good chin but now it seems like he gets knocked out so much easier. Shogun has a bright future ahead of him but dont act like shogun dominated chuck it was very even up until the knockout. maybe chuck should pull a Randy and fight heavyweight… he might be able to dodge those slow punches but then again if a good heavyweight connects it might be the first death in mma. it was depressing to see chuck get put down like that.

Dane, I think that would be a horrible idea because the heavyweights are starting to get better with more talent. I have to agree with Steve, I was pretty positive that Chuck was going to get clipped. He is done, but there is nothing wrong with that, he just doesn't have it anymore. He did catch Rua a couple times though with some good shots. Shawn, damn, is chuck your uncle? Calm down. I think Chuck is kind of overrated now. He wasn't before because he was backing up his reputation, but he can't do that anymore, however people still think he can. Thats what makes him overrated now. Stil though, he would probably be a walk-on at any other organization if UFC drops him, and he would probably do good there.

  24. Tim

    April 19, 2009 at 1:04 am

Anderson schooled Thales big time, some called it a borning fight but you cant blame Silva for this one Leites backed up and dropped several times lookingfor a sweep, he was overmatched and Silva played with him big time. Silva is the best fighter in the world today period end of story, those were some sick knee strikes and i have never seen someone throw a punch at a knee before or that backdoor leg strike….plain sick and scarry if this guy is really this good i dont know who is going to stop him he is definetly in his prime a GSP match out only seems just a matter of time, this fight would make history with 2 fighters in their prime and currently at their best would be sick to see and to me that fight wouldnt matter who wins or loses just seeing two fighters at their prime and at their best with so much talent would just be great to watch either way.

Liddel is past his prime and i agree he needs to retire as he will always be a big draw for a card, but Dana cant keep putting him on cards when he loses but i have to say this wasnt all that bad of a fight for chuck he actualy looked good and i am not a chuck fan i respect the man by every means he just got caught once again. He is 39…and is not a randy couture, in order for liddell to keep fighting he has to want it deep down and frankly i dont think he does, not to mention he has nothing else to prove unless its he can be the next couture. Chuck would get toyed with at heavywieght their are too many good fighters with overall much better skills, chuck is a stand up fighter which i love but when your facing a generation thats so versatile its just a matter of time before you have worn out your welcome per say and i am sorry but chuck has worn out his welcome with his constant lack of performace although i did state he actually looked good in this fight until he got Ko'd and i cant believe they called that eh TKO…he was out all the way. best of luck to chuck he made his millions and should enjoy life.

  25. Ryan S

    April 19, 2009 at 1:09 am

And Dane, you're right, he has faced, and defeated, some great strikers, but that was a while ago. Wandy came to a decision, so I can't say anything about that, but that Vitor fight was 7 years ago and when did he fight overeem?

  26. Andre

    April 19, 2009 at 1:10 am

i Just want to say that shogun vs chuck was a great fight it seems that for shogun switching camps was a good idea he looked sharp and well conditioned his strikes were accurate the knock out was perfectly timed Shogun has earned the bonus his next fight should be against Rampage so he can then get a title shot against the winner of Evans / Machita. and in my opinion this should have been the main event , Silvas fight was a let down Leites did'nt look like fighter fighting for the belt .

  27. Nichole Lesniak

    April 19, 2009 at 1:11 am

    You're right, Chuck's not Randy…Chuck has a better record.

Otherwise, I agree with you 100% Tim. You can't blame Silva. Leites virtually refused to engage (with the exception of R2). How you can fight someone who doesn't want to fight?

And I'm so sick of fans booing because it's not an "exciting" fight. To me, those are NOT real fans.

  28. Dave

    April 19, 2009 at 2:18 am

Fedor is way better pound for pound, period. This is a perfect example of how Silva is good but not nearly as dominant in his weight class. Blame it all you want on Leites lack of aggression, Fedor wouldn't need excuses like that. He has enough agression for both fighters and would never let a guy like Leites dictate the intensity of a match like that.

After seeing this fight, my vote goes Fedor #1 (by far), GSP #2 and Silva #3. Sorry UFC fanatics but I think most MMA fans would agree (not to mention most other fighters).

  29. Nichole Lesniak

    April 19, 2009 at 3:42 am

I'm on the Fedor wagon and all, but his critics are right. Fedor doesn't fight the best in the world. It's easy to beat chumps. Who has "really" challenged Fedor? At least Silva fights guys who put up a real fight (well, except for maybe Leites).

silvas fight was sad he should have ended this one an Cotes I am done buying fights hes fighting on that was a HUGE letdown as the main event.

  31. Tim

    April 19, 2009 at 4:42 am

Say all you want, Silva faces all competition the best of his weight class in the world and not of his fights are glamorous but you have to remember this is a business this is the fighters job this is their life and their CAREER, as a fan and mma enthusiast Silva did no wrong in this fight, i understand entertainment but you have to remember one thing the fighter is their to WIN end of story, and if that means putting on a more than less performance so be it, as Fans it sucks but from a fighters perspective fighting a safe fight isnt so bad it just sucks for entertainment. But you cant blame Silva for this, he pressured and tried to engage action and finish Leites but a fighte is only going to put himself into so much danger before he backs out as in sure Silva could of engage Leites on the ground with some G and P, but what if Leites a much better BJJ fighter caught him in a Sub? then what? Silva stuck to his game engaged the action on the feet but Leites did not engage back and that is the problem. Leites should be sent packing for his poor performance…Silva should not be getting criticized for fighting this fight the way he did.

As for Fedor, he is not the best fighter in the world today…who has he fought AA, a former past his prime fighter from the UFC…Sylvia a piece of shit washed up UFC fighter….Why doesnt Fedor take on Talent…you want to know why because he is the best fighter outside the UFC but Fedor and his management will not deal with Dana and vice versa, Dana wants a contract and they dont, Fedor wants Millions per fight and he isnt worth it, maybe as a total package if he wins plus paperview buys but not a million base per fight which he wants in the UFC…greedy bastard…after what i learned about him and Dana and their failed negotiations i learned one thing Dana is stubborn but Fedor and his people are even more stubborn. If Fedor wanted to prove his status which i dont think he even cares to do, he just wants to keep fighter whoever, but if he truly wanted to he could sign a one fight deal with the UFC exclusively and fight Anderson Silva, GSP , Lesnar etc…dont get me wrong Fedor is great fighter i just think he is dodging the best their is and if he truly wanted to fight the best he and his management wouldnt let a few dollars stand in the way of making a statement to the world.

Bottom line Silva fights smart but isnt going to risk engaging where he knows someone is better…he is a real fighter entertaining or not you have to respect the man as this is his career and a win is a win no matter how you call it. I would love to see Silva KO all his fights but when someone fails to engage back there isnt much you can do.

Ryan S, Chuck knocked out Overeem in the same pride middleweight grandprix that he met Jackson for the first time in. Overeem was his first fight before he went against Rampage.

i don't care if people want to say gsp or silva is the better p4p but silva is not facing the best cote, irvin and leites are not the best or top comp, gsp lost to serra tim your crazy if you think it was a past his prime aa, that was aa at his best.i would put gsp ahead of silva he has faced the top ww's and they where legit top guys along with fighting another p4p guy and destroying him his only knock is the loss to serra, who has fedor lost to?

  35. Tim

    April 19, 2009 at 5:40 am

With all due respect as of right now records dont mean shit..why does everyone always point out records…i am sorry but there different weight classes for a reason…Fedor could most likely never cut down to 185 and Silva could go up to 205 like he has before…fact is put these two at a catch weight and let the best fighter win and honestly have to looked at the skill set of Silva those knee shots would break Fedor knee in due time and his striking ability is far superb shit the man has an undefeated amatuer boxing background, he toys with his opponents…Skill wise Anderson has the best and has been the best fighter withing the last 2 years, hence the 9-0 record in the UFC and 5 title defenses i think it is now…Fedor is one of a kind and so is Silva this fight will never happen so it makes no sense in talking about it. Now the Silva vs GSP fight that will happen and will be awesome to see. Say all you want but Fedor wont fight in the UFC where if you look at your pound for pound ranking out of the top 10…8 of them are with the UFC and WEC hmmm dont you think there is something to this? No disrespect to FEdor as he is a great fighter

Dane those so called great stirkers u say chuck beat. Ok well Overeem was raping him standing but got gassed. Thats how chuck won. He didnt outstrike him. WAnderlei now isnt the same as he was in pride. Wandy has a style like a pitbull. And everyone knows that he would have killed hcuck if chuck could have even got to the championship in pride. But he got beat and Wandy went on to win the tournament. That was when chuck was in his prime. Then in the vitor fightthat was when the stand up game was sloppy. Vitor really doesnt outsrike great strikers either. Besides say Wandy back in the day. So using Vitor as a key win in which chuck didnt finish him doesnt make Chuck a great striker. Sorry but like I said chuck is OVERRATED. All u chuck fans are now saying he was one of the best ever. Yeah b/c look who he fought and beat standing. Guys who werent strikers. It was a good move for the UFC and it got him huge in the USA. People see him knocking people out but they dont know that he is knocking out guys that just arent stand up fighters. Ever since chuck has fought guys that arent afraid to strike with him he has caught the disease narcolepsy. He just keeps going to sleep. Nighty night chuck and I am glad all u guys that love chuck got to see him get fucked up for one last time.

  37. clay

    April 19, 2009 at 6:47 am

Silva is just as much too blame as Leites! So what he did not want to engage in the standup, Silva did not want to engage in the ground. A total bad matchup for both fighters. Silva won respectably but it does not make me think much of him. Both of those fighters should not be in any main event for a while, I will never pay to watch Silva again.

  38. Schmac

    April 19, 2009 at 6:54 am

Anderson Silva went from one of the most exciting fighters to just about one of the least exciting fighters (as of late). It's a pity that his gameplan has changed from a fighter who fights to win to one that fights not to lose. He's content to be a dominant fighter rather than a fighter who fights dominantly. I was really hoping that he'd get down to business this fight.

If you fight a five round bout, everything should be left in the cage, and there isn't a single person on earth that believes that both these fighters gave it their all.

I don't care who he fights next time, I won't be cheering for Silva. I bet he is sitting at home right now watching his backdoor love tap leg kick on repeat sporting a halfy and a box of kleenex.

Shogun vs Rampage. Winnre gets the winner of Machida vs Evans. The rematch with Rampage and shogun will be badass. Shogun raped him in the first fight but I dont see him raping rampge like that again.

  40. dane drebin

    April 19, 2009 at 7:20 am

dude steve ur delusional if u think overeem was raping chuck before he chuck knocked him out lmao. chuck was up on points. he was landing the cleaner strikes, scored a takedown with some ground and pound and had sprawled on overeem and landed like 7 knees to overeems head. all overeem did better than chuck was land some good knees to the body. chuck was up on the score cards id ot knwo what your talking about but keep talking out ur ass i guess. And chuck has the most consecutive tko/ko wins in a rown in the ufc, is a for sure future hall of famer and will go down in history as one of the best ufc champions of all times and one of the greatest 205'ers this sport has ever seen whether ur ass agrees or not make no difference to his legacy.

  41. STEVEO

    April 19, 2009 at 8:54 am

U can call people WWE fans all you want tim but that fight was pathetic, neither was aggressive Leites spent more time on his back killing time than he did actually fighting and Silva didn't even look like he was trying, personally I think hes playing fuckin games with Dana trying to get more money, if he knows he can fuck around and win stop putting guys in title fights just cause they beat a few people, i would rather see him maul rich franklin again than be subjected to that crap at least you know ace is gonna show up and fight not flop.

    April 19, 2009 at 9:51 am

    Nichole and Steve:

The way I see it is that Anderson was not really trying too hard to engage either. Clay has a good point, its not like the fight would have been Leites' for the taking on the ground, Silva has good ground skills as well. But a lot of it was just dancing around. Anderson could have rushed in but that barely ever happened. Fighting is their jobs, but dancing around the cage is not what people want to see. If the fighters keep showing people what they do not want to see, then they will be out of a job.

tim you say 8 of the 10 best are in the ufc?go check the rankings not for hw and tey might only have 2 or 3 in the lw.sorry fedor has beaten everyone where anderson has lost to cans, i would say a couple fights ago he may have been p4p best but its a thing that chages and his last 3 fights to me where against sub par comp, there are so many guys for him to fight in the ufc but he is not fighting them with his last 3 fights all i can do is move gsp ahead of him and if fedor and anderson ever fought fedor would take him to the ground and kill him.

  46. Businessman

    April 19, 2009 at 11:21 am

There are so some good points made for GSP, Fedor, and Silva as the best P4P fighter. That is why it is so hard to really pick one. There are so many pros and cons to each one. In my opinion, you have to look at the overall record and what the fighter has done lately. You have to also consider the opponents. In looking at all of that, my vote goes to Fedor. In looking at his overall record, he has only 1 career loss…and that was a loss that should not have been a loss. It should have been ruled a no-contest. That means that Fedor is a near as perfect as anyone with that many fights could be. He has been fighting, what, like 7,8, 9 years and to be virtually undefeated in that amount of time says a lot. if you look at his recent body of work, he has and continues to beat the best. AA was at the top of his game. While I can't stand and knew that Tim would be to slow, Tim was also a top HW in the UFC…So while yes, he has fought some nobodies, he has also beaten Cro Cop (in his prime), Noguera (twice), AA, Tim, etc. He has beaten some top guys out there. In my opinion in looking at GSP's and Silva's careers, they have been solidly beaten in their losses and have more than 1. Saying that someone is the 2nd or 3rd best P4P fighter in the world is not bad, but in my opinion, Fedor is #1.

  47. steve

    April 19, 2009 at 11:22 am

Okay Dane here is the guys chuck tko/ko in those 7 consecutive stoppages. Now tell me who is a good striker in these names. Beating guys that the ufc gave him that benefited his style.

Tito Ortiz, Renato Sobral, Randy Couture, Jeremy Horn, Randy Couture, Vernon White, Tito Ortiz. Now look at his last 5 guys he has fought. All strikers.

Rampage lost, Jardine lost, Wanderlei Won I give him credit but Wandy like chuck didnt evolve. Rashad Lost,

Shogun Lost. These last 5 names are much beter competition than any of his prvious fights. Hmm pretty telling in my eyes.

  48. steve

    April 19, 2009 at 11:24 am

excuses are like assholes everyones got one and they all stink Dane. Chucks wasnt too old because he beat Tito just 5 months before he got raped by Rampage the 2nd time. and only 9 months before he lost to Jardine. He got exposed and some of you fans of chucks cant take it. He was never the best striker he just beat the guys who werent strikers. Get it right.

  49. dane drebin

    April 19, 2009 at 11:49 am

ur annoying me so im gunna keep it short. Im not making any excuses for chuck he lost to shogun. hats off to shogun. if chuck won lastnight i which he very well could have if one of his bombs landed i would have been happy but wouldnt be calling shogun over rated or trying to belittle his career. I never said chuck was the best striker in the world but im pretty sure all the people in the ufc would agree with me that chuck in his prime was an elite striker. Chuck was a great champion and deserves a lot more respect than u are giving him. You can keep preaching how bad a striker was but chucks legacy is secure. Hes accomplished all there is to accomplish he was the champ for a long time which is more than shogun has done so far by the way. What have you ever done in ur life to rag on chucks championship reign? its all good tho the weak always like to try and sabotage the strong.

I think that Leites wanted to have sex with anderson instead of fighting him. He kept laying on his back throwing his legs in the air like some Pentecostal girls i used to know.

I do blame this fight on the match makers. This was a horrible match up. Please please give us some fights worth watching. Put the spider in some super fights with gsp or at 205. No one will beat him at 185 unless Henderson just decides to get hungry again and come alive.
