wow this kinda happened fast ..i hope ol Frank is running around with two cinder blocks under his arms ..getting into shape..i think hes gonna need some extra gas this time in his tank … if it lasts long

i think brock is gonna take him this time

I will say this; I think we are going to see a more tenitive fighter from both of them. I don't think Brock is going to come out swinging or charging. And Mir isn't going to come out cocky. I suspect we will see some wide eyes from both of them. Whatever the outcome is, I will be watching. As I have said before, I'm pulling for you Frank! I think you're going to need every bit of good karma you can muster!

Well i was hoping for this to happen at UFC 97 that way both fighters might be able to fight at UFC 100 and that still could happen but unlikely now. Anyways back to this fight as i have said before…Mir is known for his cockiness and is unablitly to be conditioned…Mir really needs to come into this fight well conditioned, i mean cardio and strength wise cause he will need every ounce of strength and every heart beat to beat Lesnar…Lesnar will undoubtingly come into this fight the more overall conditioned fighter and i look for Lesnar to play it calm and come out swining and take Mir down at will and G&P and if Lesnar hits trouble he backs off and stands the fight back up…we know Mir cant catch brock in Arm bars…the man is to damn powerful as we saw last time how Mir went for them twice and both times Lesnar practicly broke Mirs arms off in the process..i think what really startled Mir last fight was Lesnar's overall athletic ability combined with strength and speed…i just dont see how Mir can match that or find a way around it unless Lesnar makes another rookie mistake which could happen but not likely as i am sure they are going to focus on Sub defense and have game plan that will suit Lesnar's strengths…i hope its a good fight Should be interesting to see how Mir comes into this fight mentally and physically and what respect if any does he give lesnar…and i am sure lesnar has respect for Mir Sub skills but knows he lost the last fight himself as he got caught in a rookie mistake. Lesnar is clearly the favorite and should win by TKO/KO by 2nd round, but i am hoping for a submission from Lesnar that would be interesting and funny but not likely. If lesnar trains at Xtreme Couture than thats just more gas for the fire. Both Lesnar and Sherk train at the same place in Minnesota and do the Caveman training…that shit is intense.

I can't see Mir winning… He looked really good agains Nog, but Lesnar will overpower him and the last years worth of subs defense will make t difficult for Mir to tap him out…

Overall I'll be dissapointed if Mir loses – as he has the miles on the clock when it comes to MMA… but we'll see

Ultimatley… there's still Fedor who is the REAL No. 1 Heavyweight!!

I'd love to see Fedor come to the UFC and take the heavyweight & LHW belt… then finish it off by givig Anderson Silva his first UFC beat down at 205!!!

this will be a better fight than the first one. i also see them both being cautious at first. but i see lesnar eventually dominating.

IF fedor ends up in the ufc in 2 or 3 years, lesnar will be much more advanced and will hand him his ass.

  7. roy

    January 23, 2009 at 5:07 am

to bad mir won't hold that belt for long, i see lesnar handing him a beating i don't think he will make it out of the first round.

If mir pulls a Nogueira move he'll be alright, gets hit- Lesnar comes charging i- Mir gets him in a submission, possible but unlikely. Lesnar wanted this fight so he obviously will avoid the ground at all costs, he knows first hand what Mir's strength is, overall its going to be an interesting fight, i'm looking forward to see how much Lesnar can evolve as a fighter, he's still finding his rhythm.

    lesnar via tko second round

    January 23, 2009 at 8:57 am

Lesnar will not be afraid to take it to the ground but he will be cautious it was working for him the first time around with the combination of punches and takedowns and G&P until he stood up and left his leg in there and Mir capitilized on it and spun him around, i dont think he will make the same mistake again. Lesnar is too much overall for Mir to handle…i still say TKO/KO rd2 but earlier would be nice but i also would like to see it go deep too.

I got Lesnar by flying gogoplata.

    January 23, 2009 at 9:11 am

I think Lesnar was just so amped up in the first fight with mir that he totally forgot all his training and prep for the fight. He just went nuts on Frank and that was almost enough to win the fight. i think he will come out like he did with Randy. Very calm and patient. He has all the advantages of strength speed and power. Brock can let the fight come to him and beat up Frank. Brock can just stand up with Frank. I don't think frank can take brock's punching power. what's frank going to do? Take Brock down? Brock will win this fight. All he has to do is stay away from mir on the ground early.

  13. Tim

    January 23, 2009 at 9:28 am

I agree…and i dont see Lesnar having any difficulties takinging Mir down or even having to stay away from the ground in this fight remember he dominated every aspect of the last fight even the ground except he made a rookie mistake…i just dont se how Mir can win this fight now that Lesnar is bit more experienced and has further developed his overal abilities and skills but never say never.

F rank did say he was in better shape for the nog fight…he said in all his previous fights he was afraid the fight would go more than 1 round or so cause he knew he had no conditioning ,, now he says he sees the light..he needs to run around the block a time or 2 with a couple of cinder blocks under each arm..i do hope he takes Brock deep into the rounds .. come on Frank there are a few of us out here that are pulling for ya

  15. Tim

    January 23, 2009 at 9:33 am

Franks going to have to pull a whodini (houdini)to win….LOL sorry couldnt help myself.

    January 23, 2009 at 9:44 am

its not that i am pulling for lesnar, and mir could submit him i just don't think it will happen i wouldn't mind if frank won but i really don't think he will make it out of the first round.

  17. fedor24

    January 23, 2009 at 9:56 am

Hell I'm pulling for Frank but I just can't see happening. I don't trust his chin and Lesnar is going to hit him HARD. If Frank can get Brock into his guard he has a shot of getting a sub.

Im kinda sick of these 1 good fight per card PPVs… u got Rampage vs Jardine at 96, Chuck vs Shogun for 97 and now this on 98… nothin on 95. Wish they could combine some of these like they did on 92 if people are gonna spend 50 bcuks.

  19. kom34

    January 23, 2009 at 1:12 pm

i'm sick of these one fight cards too. maybe afflictions card tomorrow will put some pressure on the ufc to offer better shows. i agree with you all that this will be a better fight than the first one and i see brock wearing on mir like he did to herring. brock lesnar is the champ, that still sounds crazy to me.

  20. steve

    January 23, 2009 at 3:20 pm

Thats what I said about UFC 93. Nobody cared to see Shogun vs Coleman and i sure didnt think Hendo vs franklin would be any good. I probally wont order this card either since they will probally have a buch of journeyman fighting onthe televised section of the card. Cant stand the ufc when they have cards like that. Seems like about every other card there is a crappy ppv. Rarely have i been truely happy about ordering a ppv. The last time i think enjoyed a ppv really was ufc 92 and ufc 86 in the past like 15 ppvs.

    Brock – Mir 2 –

Well I think Lesnar has definitely learned from that rookie mistake from their first fight. Mir fought well against Nog and deserves the credit as people counted him out. I am not a Mir fan, as I find him kinda arrogant, but he has skills for sure and definitely is dangerous. Hope he works his conditioning hard (as many above mention cinder blocks lol), I would like to see this go more than 3 rounds, which would show where each of them are at skill wise and conditioning…but I fear that I see a "Donkey Konging" of Mir's head again if Brock hits him solid with one of the mail-box sized fists. If Brock can pin him against the cage, I see Mir gassing as that is a lot of weight to have pressed against you. Should be a great fight, and I agree, both will probably be cautious at first.

  22. overman

    January 31, 2009 at 3:01 am

I disagree with everyone here.. to my mind, it will be hard for lesnar to win against mir. the only real chance lesnar has against mir is to ko him either standing up or on the ground.

Mir is more of a technical striker while brock is relying soley on his power. the last fight,well.. i guess mir was surprised with what brock bought.. but this time 4 sure proper adjustments will be made.

sure brock is the better wrestler and the stronger fighter, hence he can take mir down at will. so what, mir will pull guard for him.. don't you guys forget what mir is all about.. this is the guy who broke travern's arm in his ufc debut. travern is a nobody, just the most decorated bjj practitioner at that time. and there is timmy's arm..

overall mir has the edge standing up or down there on the ground. he just needs to avoid the big shot from this gorilla, should he avoid the same he will be just fine..

yup, mir's gas and chin is a big question but the same goes with lesnar. untested chin and his cardio is supect. check out his fight against randy. the bigger the fighter the easier they tire.

    war Muuurrrr!!!

  23. dane drebin

    January 31, 2009 at 4:28 am

mir's chin and brocks power will be the reason brock wins. sometime during the fight brock ill rock mir unless mir pulls out a quick sub which i dont see happening. u cant just pull gaurd on brock hes a NCAA heavy champ he decides where he wants the fight to be not mir.

  24. fedor24

    January 31, 2009 at 5:00 am

I agree overman. Mir should be the favorite. We all rank Brock on his awesome potential and ignore his gross lack of cage experience. Some(myself included) look at the freakshow strength and speed and start making brock into something he not quite become. An elite fighter. Brock is still a freakshow force but we have seen many of his type get schooled by sub masters in the guard. Bjj is made to defeat big wrestlers. Mir by choke on a gassed out Lesnar in round 2.

    February 13, 2009 at 5:34 pm

HAH! Choke out LESNAR@ in what world are you dreaming. Good luck getting a good hold around "THOSE" traps and neck! LESNAR "THE GREAT" will prevail VICTORIOUS

  26. steve

    February 13, 2009 at 8:41 pm

Sorry Dane and Tim I think Mir will take this one but then again with how Mir looked in the past on his way back to the top it wouldnt be imppsoible for him to beat Mir. I mean B. Vera destroyed Mir in like 40 seconds. I would say Mir should be the favorite because he looked better in his last fight and he has the advantage like overman said.

  27. Jay

    February 15, 2009 at 2:51 pm

The reality is Lesnar will destroy Mir! Let's face it Lesnar's strength, speed and athletism is WHY he will win!

People forget that strength, speed and athletism is just as important in a fight as is learning how to punch, kick, submission skills etc. Case in point why do you think they have weight divisions? You have to be a well-rounded fighter to be great! Neither of them are well-rounded, but Lesnar has a chance ………someday!

Mir was getting manhandled and beaten silly until the ref gave Mir a break and stood them up……….then Lesnar took him down AGAIN and did the same thing to him before making a obvious sloppy mistake!

    Lesnar wins easily.

Imagine Lesnar with Fedor's fighting skills! Fedor IS the 1# mma fighter in the world right now! In a couple of years Lesnar will beat Fedor easily. But for now he isn't ready.

  28. Jay

    February 15, 2009 at 3:09 pm

Another thing is that Mir is at the PEAK of his fighting skills! Lesnar is JUST getting started!

Lesnar is a new breed of fighter. In that he is strong, fast and athletic. Lesnar-Mir 2 isn't Lesnar's first fight like it was when he faced Mir the first time! In which he was easily beating Mir until a silly mistake. In order for Mir to survive and possibly beat Lesnar he NEEDS to increase his functional strength and speed! PERIOD!

One more thing Mir's "boxing" skills in his last fight against Nog is OVERRATED! Mir used nearly the same f*ck*n combination over and over again against Nog! Luckily for Mir, Nog has NO stand up game!

The UFC really needs Fedor! The heavyweight division looks pathetic right now in the UFC!

  29. RatAttack68

    February 15, 2009 at 3:56 pm

Mir will beat Lesner again. He looked great in his last fight. The only chance Lesner has is to KO Mir. In a few years Lesner should be a force to reckon with, but for now he has no ground game.

  30. JFurm!!

    February 16, 2009 at 12:35 am

yea i agree, i think Mir is goin to win via submission…..unlike ratattack says i wouldnt under-estimate lesnars ground game thus far….we may see a different lesnar still taking Mir tho

  31. RatAttack68

    February 16, 2009 at 7:57 am

Fedor is good but over rated and didn't look that good in his last fight. The UFC LHW is stacked. Let him come, he may take the heavy weight title but not the LHW one.

  32. ufc101guy

    February 25, 2009 at 2:38 pm

Look Mir is good only with subs on the ground. and for anyone to say that lesnar has no ground game is an understatement(Ratattack68) Lesnar is former NCAA wrestling champion. he has more power and more speed and way better conditoning that mir. Mir is good with submissions but just that. He is to damn cocky and over looks just about all of his oppents. I think mir will have better conditioning for this fights but if it goes the distance he may gas out by the 3 round, assuming he makes it that far. For lesnar to lose this time would be because he made a really really really stupid mistake. So my prediction is Lesnar tko in first or second round

  33. Al

    February 25, 2009 at 8:44 pm

I don't recall an an opponent Mir has ever overlooked. Yea when he got back from his motorcycle accident he wasn't the same man but that was a mental game he was playing with himself. He lost two fights in that span of time. But every big fight he has been in he has won: Sylvia, Lesnar, Nog he has defeated. And if he beat Nog he was getting another rematch with Lesnar and a chance to win a unified belt, so if there was an overlooking by Mir, it probably should have been that fight. But we all saw what happened with that, tko'd Nog for the first time in his career. But I agree with you, if Brock has learned anything it is to stay away from the arsenal of submissions Mir has to apply to him. If he gets caught again, thats Lesnar being a cocky asshole who thinks he can run through everyone.

  34. whodini

    February 25, 2009 at 9:33 pm

he didn't look good against Brandon Vera …he really dissapointed me ..i just hope its a good fight

  35. RatAttack68

    February 26, 2009 at 12:01 am

Guys as we have seen on numerous occasions that size and muscles don't matter. Mir looked the best that he has since his accident. Yes Lesner can knock Mir out and that is his best hope but if it goes to the ground mir has the best chance.

  36. roy

    February 26, 2009 at 2:51 am

i don't think mir is that great, he is good but not a real top hw imo, he could submit lesnar but i dout it and i don't see him winning any other way.

  37. Tim

    February 26, 2009 at 2:59 am

Why is everyone thinking Mir will dominate this fight. If you had any witts you would know that the first fight Mir barely won and needed the Refs help to win. But a win is a win. Lesnar as a rookie dominated Mir with ease what makes you think he wont do it again…oh thats right he beat Nog in standup…umm Lesnar hits harder and has exceptional speed all around for a man his size. Mir will not be able to swap punches with Lesnar and will not stop his take downs and lesnr will not make the same rookie mistake again, he will come in with a game plan to take it to Mir and stand and go for takedowns and G&P if the fight becomes to uneasy for Lesnar on the ground he will just back off and stand back up. i look for lesnar to stay in side control when he takes Mir down and G& P from there. Mir will not become miraculaously stronger or faster all of a dudden than Lesnar. Mir will only win by submission and i never look past a fighter but this won is close but he has a chance to beat Lesnar. Put it this way all lesnar has to do is stay away from subs and he wins this fight.

  38. Tim

    February 26, 2009 at 3:00 am

Roy, you said it best i dont see him winning any other way than by Subs.

  39. PoppyNick

    February 26, 2009 at 3:39 am

UGGGG……I hope Mir ends this quick so the fair weather MMA fans can go back to what they know…the WWE. Brock is a great athlete and has power but is way overhyped in my opinion.

  40. roy

    February 26, 2009 at 4:07 am

poppyneck i am not a big lesnar fan at all, but mir is not that good he is more overhyped imo and outside of lesnar getting caught in a sub he will not beat him and i don't see lesnar making that mistake this time.

  41. dane drebin

    February 26, 2009 at 4:45 am

ya poopydick why does everyone who thinks brock is gunna win have to be a wwe fan. shit gets old listening to.

  42. Tim

    February 26, 2009 at 6:02 am

Yeah its getting kinda ridiculous for that comment to be made, the man is now in MMA and he is good at it and is learning day by day..his WWE fake shit are over and he has proven his place in MMA. Just face it the man has unbelievable talent and athleticism.

  43. STEVEO

    February 26, 2009 at 6:06 am

how is someone a fair weather mma fan? do they not watch when its bad? do they watch more when its good? I won't lie i watch wwe but I have been to vegas 3 times in the last year to go to a UFC event how bout you poppynick? So what makes me less of a fan that i don't sit home and jack off to pictures of joe rogan in my moms basement listening to tim sylvia training videos? I might do that anyway, and I could still be a bigger fan than you. the point im trying to make is that many people here act like they are some sort of superfan and they dont work and sit home and watch and train mma all day long and never do anything else. Fans a fan man as long as you aren't a kimbo fan. Even my wwe watchin not a big a fan as you ass has standards.

Pretty sure I said he's a great athlete….SteveO seriously I've been to this many events how about you??? How old are you 6? I'm not saying I'm the greatest fan or anything just sick of everyone riding the coatails. He has fought 3 times in the UFC and everyone claims he is god. All this Mir got lucky he was getting his ass kicked…..really didn't know being a black belt in bjj and catching someone in a sub was lucky.

  46. PoppyNick

    February 26, 2009 at 8:28 am

And Kimbo sucks and always has:)

  47. Tim

    February 26, 2009 at 8:47 am

No one said he was God, the man has 4 fights in his career and has dominated every one. No other person that i know of could walk on into MMA with 2 years of training and dominate like he has, sure he has alot to learn and the excitement to see himn grow and develope is great. Win or lose it will be interesting to see where Lesnar goes from here on out. Bottom line a loss is a loss but if the Ref hadnt stopped the fight….Mir would of lost. i dont see this fight ending the same way this time around.

  48. whodini

    February 26, 2009 at 9:06 am

i hope he subs him again …. now that would be awesome…come on Frank some of us are pullng for ya

  49. RatAttack68

    February 26, 2009 at 10:55 am

I agree that the ref standing up mir and lesner in their fight was bullshit without any warnings. If lesner can keep from being pinned he has a chance. Mir's standup against nog was awesome but submissions is what he is known for. No matter who wins I hope its a good fight that goes a couple of rounds.

  50. STEVEO

    February 27, 2009 at 2:20 am

the attacking of my age how adult, i was just trying to be funny and i also notice you didnt answer how many events you have been too. And no one rides on his coattails, again makes no sense. i like lesnar because he does it in the ring he isnt out there runnin his mouth like alot of guys, he gets in the ring and smashes in faces, all walk no talk thats what i like about lesnar and why i will re rooting for him to karate chop frank mir's head off.
