According to Sherdog.com, the UFC is expected to continue its European expansion as it is rumored to be heading to Germany for UFC 99 on June 13th. Rumored to headline the event is former UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture taking on the former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell in what will become their forth meeting. Liddell who holds a 2-1 record over Couture, is expected to make the jump to heavyweight for the proposed forth battle.

During his tour in the US army, Randy Couture was stationed at the World War II “Fliegerhorst” base of Langendiebach in Erlensee, Germany. His knowledge of the German language will help the UFC win over German fans.

there is a few match ups i woulod be interested in seeing these guys in this is really not one of them, they both only have a few fights left why do something thats already been done.the fight could still go either way chuck will do what he always does and as long as randy dosn't get hit he would win but he could get knocked out with one punch.

yeah, and if randy wins then they will both be 2 and 2 so would they fight a 5th rubber match. If this is at heavy weight i could see randy taking this fight. To be honest, I would rather not see it. I would rather see chuck rematch jardine just to knock out jardines awkward ass and I would like to see randy fight mir when he loses to nog. But, whatever, I'll buy the ppv anyway.

chuck vs jardine 2 would be more likely than couture vs liddell, i think UFC is gonna find two opponents for them that will be a good fight to get them back on track, jardine would be good for chuck, lol defiantly not the spider hahaha, i really couldnt call a heavyweight for couture but the looser of the nog and mir fight would be the best fight for couture right now. Both need a win, couture needs one to stay alive at his age, and chuck really needs a win if he wants to get another run at the title.

Should be an interesting fight at hvwt. The fight brings two of the biggest names in mma to germany. If this fight happens it will be to sell tickets and generate interest off the names in the main event. Most german fans will be familiar withe these 2.

Plus Randy Couture is fluent in German and you could have one of those moments in the octagon after the fight just like Venus Williams speaking French at Wimbledon. People would eat that up.

Plus I know a good number of people who have become fans in the last 6-9 months They have only heard rumors of the Chuck Randy rivalry. I know many of them would love to see it.

it would be crazy if chuck knocked out randy convincingly it would set up an interesting lesnar vs lidell match. and lidell has stated that he thinks he could knock lesnar out. i highly doubt that however.

Lesnar LIddell would be so hilarious because of the size difference and the fact that Lesnar is more mobile than LIddell. It would look like A city Bus hitting german sheppard going 90 mph.

I think this match would be interesting…two fighters that are legends and also on their last leg…but we have already seen this fight before but the first at HGHWT…that would be intesting. Liddell a HGWT? the fact that liddel said he could knock out Lesnar is fucking insane while anything is possible the pure size and overall athletic difference would be too much for liddel to handle i am sorry but in this scenario Lesnar is way out of Liddells league and would pose more of a threat to Him than he did to Randy…Lesnar would kill Liddell but this isnt about that nor do i think that would ever happen…If this fight happens i say Randy wins.

i think it would be a great match up at hw or lhw the 2 legands meet again just like rampage silva match cant wate for that one neither chuck or randy made names for there selves beating up old guys the new young prospects should fight each other to work there way up not fight guys who r shadows of there former selves(well for chuck anyways randy seems to get better with age)

I'd like to see these two go at it again. You won't ever see a boring Liddell-Couture fight.

    November 25, 2008 at 10:00 am

I agree Tim…I love chuck and all…how can you hate a guy who will fight whoever and whenever he is asked to…but Lesnar vs Chuck?…that's a death in the cage waiting to happen…you saw liddel's slowed reflexes vs jardine and rashad….lesnar would crush him…he's even further from true HW than Randy was and a GLANCING blow floored Randy…Chuck vs Randy, though, that would definitely be the marketing machine of choice for the german fans…smart. The fight I wanna see if Rashad does or doesn't beat Forest is Rashad vs Rampage…power vs precision

Rashad vs Rampage…that would be great.

"There WILL be blood."I should copyright it….oh, wait…nevermind. :( Already been done. Hah! Fo' real though, how eFF'n kool would that be?!…I give it three rounds tops! I just hope the undercard for germany will get beefed up because the ir fans will love chuck v randy…but i don't see it going "fight of the night"…slower, methodical…neither guy wanting to lose…like jardine vs liddel…randy most likely takes that one….maybe put houston alexander in with chuck…that would be watchable….or arrianny vs gina carano….hmmmm….anyone?

It would be BORING AS HELL.

Wait what rampage fight if any has been boring?

  22. steve

    November 25, 2008 at 11:27 am

Houston Alexander vs Liddell would last way less then Randy vs Liddell lol did u see any of the fights. They dont end in the first minute but Houston and Liddell would easily end in the first minute or maybe in the first couple punches lol as Alexander was beat in 8 seconds by James Irvin. And I feel like ur implying that the Jardine vs Liddell fight was boring or something? Both guys wanted to win. Jardine did what he does best and Liddell walked forward swinging wild at times trying for the KO. I admit that Liddell vs Couture 4 isnt gonna make a huge difference in the title contention or anything like that but it is for sure more "watchable" than Houston vs Liddell which could never be a main event. Jackson would KO Jardine and if were talking who should Chuck fight then why not give him Jardine? It is the only top guy who could really do the fight in time guaranteed atleast. Jardine is the only other marketable name out there since Luiz Cane isnt a big name and every other big name is locked up. Rashad vs Rampge could actually be boring but it could also be awesome. Henderson vs Rampage was rather boring but other then that I have liked all of rampages fights in the UFC. I just wish the UFC did things like pride so that wrestlers couldnt just lay on the guy to try and win a round. That shit is boring and thats what made the Rampage vs Hendo boring in the first place.

I never said houston vs chuck would be good…I just said I wanted to WATCH it!!…and I'm a chuck fan…always have been…but jardine was able to keep him at bay with all those kicks that welted him up…and chuck's main weapon is getting on his bike and pedalling backwards until the other guy follopws him…good strategy when the opponent is thinking like a fighter and tries to go after him…bad when your dude comes in like cromagnon man and fights just as weird as you do but with better kicks…

likewise with rashad vs rampage…because of how he acted after knocking chuck out…talk about no class…where were all these honks who cried about brock with heath when rashad was doin his best fred sanford impression while a guy who helped put that fat check in his pocket was out cold on the mat?? not because they would be great fights…maybe…but because some chump could be taught a valuable lesson >:)

I like Chuck, but to be honest until he changes things up with his fight, I don't think anyone worthy is a good fight. He wants that knock out clip and everyone knows that by now. It reminds me of the hughes and gracie fight. Gracie ruled UFC in the day and then he fought hughes and it was a whole new ballgame. You have to have more than one option to win now a days. I know there was an age difference, but with Randy I don't see age as much of an offset as I normally would. I don't know, but I would really like to see Chuck get his second wind and just whip everyones ass.

Jimmy bro, I would love to see that happen…don't think it's gonna…but I'd love to see it. I just don't see chuck changing that drasticly(<- ?) this late in the game. If dana wasn't the kind of douche who would take advantage of chucks loyalty and willingness to fight..he'd let him feed on a couple of young bucks…kind of a "welcome to the jungle" sort of initiation and clear out some trash before retiring and beginning his stint as MMA ambassador to the world(along with Randy in a few). Watching how evans just waited him out, knowing chucks hands were not gonna be up, and then leveled him before doin his fred sanford really made me so eFF'n saaaad dude…like watching your favorite cousin lose a fight…but reality has gotta set in at some point…Chucks either gotta do some major retooling or collect a couple more checks and then bounce…for sho'….

i dont get why everyone thinks its so obsurd for chuck to fight at heavyweight. doesnt he walk around at like 230? if his reflexes are slowing down then maybe he should fight slower heavyweights. the LHW division is a lot harder than the Heavies imo. the dude seems bigger to me than randy. other than the first randy fight randy couldnt take down lidell. the guy isnt what he used to be but u still dont see anyone takin him down and poundin him out. i would be interested to see how his sprawl is at heavyweight. i think chuck still has one of the best take down defenses in the game. i do think lesnar would beat him because of size, power, and probably speed but i think it would be more interesting than people think. brock didnt kill randy in the wrestling department i mean he only won 1-0 on takedowns. randy kept brock up against the cage for a lot of that fight and stopped all but one takedown. i would be interested to see if chuck could keep from getting taken down like he did randy and if he could stand up like he does with everyone. also it would be awesome to actually see chuck fight from off his back for once in his life. i think the stand up could be interesting too seeing as brock has a huge reach and is very aggressive and chuck has a good reach when not compared to brock and is a counterpuncher. i definetly wouldnt put money on lidell but imagine what it would do to his legacy if he slayed the beast known as lesnar.

sorry i guess i was just dreamin

Anything is possible but Liddel is so far out of his league against Lesnar it wouldnt be pretty…at least Randy was some what in his league when it came to wrestling and defense

Maybe so but Chuck is in another league in the striking…itll be interesting! Id like to see those punches land on that ginormous head of Lesnars. It would be the true test of his chin thats for sure.

  31. steve

    November 26, 2008 at 8:04 am

Yeah Lesnars striking isnt even close to being good. He has good power but he cant even move his head b/c he has no neck and he is very slow with his power shots. If Chuck couldnt see the punch that Randy got caught with then he needs to retire. But as we saw Rashad throws harder then Liddell. Maybe thats who should test his chin lol.

    November 27, 2008 at 8:06 am

Lesnar would not have to strike against Lidell. Lidell has great takedown defense but not against someone that is three times as strong, quicker, faster and more agressive. Lesnar would take him and pound him out in the first round.

Randy versus Lidell..it sounds like a the UFC, Randy, and Lidell are looking for one last bug pay day off these 2 big names that don't have much in the tank left. I will watch because I watch them all but I am not looking forward to it. Having fighters cross weight divisions is exciting if the timing is right and the fighters are on top of their game. Silva going up to 205 was great even if he was not fighting a top 205 guy because I wanted to see what he could do with a bigger guy. The upcoming Penn vs. GSP is going to be fantastic. I cant wait for that. But what is the point of Lidell vs. Randy 4? These are fighters that are not as exciting as they once were and neither will ever challenge for a title again.

If this happens, I hope it is not the main event because that will make for one boring UFC.

Randy really hurt himself by holding out. I don't like Dana and agree that the UFC only cares about the "organization" and not the fighters but come on…Randy was on a roll and not getting any younger. Even if they disrecpected him by offering Lesnar more money (I think I recall that was the main reason he refused to fight- because the UFC offered Lesnar more money in his first fight than they wanted to offer Randy), he had a couple more fights on his contract. All he had to do was to go out and win those and he would completed his contract and has a huge pay day and given the world the dream match-up of Randy versus Fedor. But no, he had to take the "prinicple" route. What did it get him other and wasting almost 2 years in court, getting older, and rusty? He didn't get to fight Fedor, he didn't get all the money he was looking for…all he got was to sit and wait and then come back to get his ass kicked by Lesnar. Randy, I respect all you have done but you screwed up!

    November 28, 2008 at 12:40 am

Yeah, this doesn't interest me nearly as much as this matchup did in the past. Liddell beat Lesnar? Absolutely not, no doubt in my mind. Liddell used to be this phenomenal fighter in people's eyes, but recently he has become human once again. He doesn't have it anymore and he wouldn't be too hard of a matchup for Lesnar, strictly because Lesnar WILL be able to take him to the ground, and will overpower and over wrestle him.

  34. dane drebin

    November 29, 2008 at 3:42 pm

Am i missing something? why does everyone act like lesnar would cut through lidell's sprawl like butter? I'm a brock fan but the facts dont lie. brock could barely take randy down once and when he did he didnt do that much damage and randy got back up. most of the time was spent in the clinch and the fight was settled by boxing because even tho lensar was way bigger he wasnt that superior in the wrestling. lidell has way better takedown defense than couture. ya maybe not in straight up wrestling but lidell has been taken down a lot less times than couture in mma. also lidell is a lot better at scrambling and standing up than couture so it wouldnt even be that easy for brock to hold him down if he got him there. brock seemed frusterated when he was boxing randy. i would like to see him take shots from lidell who has a lot more power than randy on the feet. i mean im not saying chuck would win or dominate. i think brock would eventually get him down but i dont think it woyuld be the cake walk all of you guys think it would be.
