UFC on Fox 4 Prelim Results: Nam Phan Earns Split Verdict

“The Ultimate Fighter” Season 12, Nam Pham, won via split decision over American Top Team’s Cole Miller at the UFC on Fox 4 “Shogun versus Vera” last Saturday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. This was due to Nam Pham’s amazing and accurate punching combinations delivered to the head and body of Miller.

All three judges have made their decision and two of them favored Pham (18 – 10, 2-3, UFC). The match was a terrific show of how great Pham is as a fighter; he landed one left hook after another landing on Miller’s head and on his body. It was a thrilling 15 minute, 145 pound bout that made audiences stand from their seats! But Miller was not giving up without a fight; he answered with left jabs, right crosses and kicks that landed all over his opponent’s body but Phan proved to be more effective than Miller as he pinned his opponent to the cage and unleashed close hits. Miller on the other hand was more effective out in the center of the ring as he was able to maintain distance with his long reach and his superior height.

But there could only be one winner at the end. Phan landed hits that had greater impact. He managed to wobble Miller and left hook him on the third round. He relentlessly hit Miler’s body with superb power and precision leading to his victory at 5 minutes of the third round.

Nam Phan is a 29 year old fighter from Garden Grove, California. He stands at 5’ 6” at 155 pounds. He has an 18 wins and 10 losses card with his latest fight a loss against Jim Hettes at the UFC 141 – Lesnar versus Overeem.

Cole “Magrinho” Miller on the other hand is from Augusta, Georgia and he stands 6’1” at 146 pounds. He has a very impressive card at 18 wins and only 7 losses but his recent fights were not so lucky. Before his loss to Phan, he lost to Steven Siler at the UFC on FX 2 “Alves versus Kampmann last May 2012. His most recent win was against T.J. O’Brien at the UFC Live 5 – Hardy versus Lytte in August 2011. Miller is famous for winning his fights over submissions but definitely he was out of luck when he faced Phan last Saturday at UFC on Fox 4.
