According to Sherdog, the UFC is devising a plan to schedule a free event on SpikeTV to overshadow Affliction’s debut show on July 19th. The report sites a possible light heavyweight contender fight between Wanderlei Silva and Brandon Vera as the main event.

This show will test the UFC’s power as a brand as it goes head to head against one of the biggest heavyweight fights in recent history, Fedor Emelianenko vs. Tim Sylvia. Also, by offering a free event over Afflictions PPV, the UFC will likely draw many casual fans into skipping the historic PPV event.

Fighters should be worried about thir company that is known for its underhanded antics. Hey it works for Don King.

This type of shit hurts MMA as a sport.

this works out great for me. Tivo the spike tv fights and get the ppv. looks like i win both ways for the night. this type of competition only provides better cards and better fights for fear the fighters might drop off after a par proformance.

The only ones who are going to loose are the UFC fighters which are sponsored by Affliction. It puts then in a bad position with both companies. How many UFC fighters in the future will get sponsored by Affliction?

In the long run I can only see UFC and Elite with the capitol and the signed fighters to survive.

you think elite has a better shot than affliction?affliction is already a succesfull company they already have signed some big names and crosspromote and have trump backing them.i think they will survive.

All affliction needs to be successful is for a couple more big name fighters. Like say they sign Kimbo when he is done with his contract with elitexc and maybe Tito Ortiz. The UFC are stiffs when it comes to paying and that is why other organiazations have a chance. Affliction is really the only organization with the talent to compete with the UFC. They have the best heavyweight line up by far. Say what u want about the other divisions but their heavyweight division is stacked with only great fighters. Dont forget about Randy Couture who will hopefully be able to fight again and also Cro Cop will probally be picked up after his stint in the Dream organization.

who cares if affliction has trump backing them. once affliction gets into money trouble trump will tuck his wig between his legs and run. he has alot of money problems already he dosent need another one. ufc will out last them all, they have more money then any of these companys can dream of. ufc has a casino company backing them that hasnt filled for bankruptcy multiple times like trump. in the end the ufc will be the last one standing.

Well said Steve. Trump is one of the most feared and powerful business men in the WORLD. I wouldn't want to go head-to-head with him. Obviously Dana understands the threat also and trying to take care of it of the jump. It will be interesting. And will everyone plz get off Kimbo's nut sack! Atleast wait till he beats a skilled fighter before you crown him your personal king.
