UFC Quote: Dana White Thanks Fedor For Taking Care Of Tim Sylvia

Harsh words from UFC President Dana White regarding two time Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylva:

“He’s[Fedor] not the best pound-for-pound fighter, not even close, but he’s one of the four or five best heavyweights,” said White, who undoubtedly would be singing Emelianenko’s praises to the heavens the moment he got the stoic Russian’s name on a UFC contract.

“But we all have to thank him[Fedor] for getting rid of Tim Sylvia. He’d been stinking out the joint the last couple of years and Fedor did everyone a favor by beating him so easily and getting rid of him.”

He has all the social tact of a prison rape, but I agree with him.

    Well said Nolan.

I respect Dana White for his business savvy skills. He almost single handily revitalized the UFC. Furthermore, what he has done for the sport of MMA is nothing short of spectacular. He is a major reason the sport has grown exponentially these past several years.

But, at the same time, it's comments like these that create his vilified image. There is a lack of tact, lack of class and lack of ability to hold back. While, what he says may be true, it doesn't make it appropriate or intelligent.

Countless times, there has been far better avenues White could have taken in order to get his point across, but, instead of taking the politically correct route, he chooses to remain corse and offensive. It really rubs people the wrong way.

Even still, I respect his honesty but would appreciate it more if he wasn't so transparent. He laughs off criticism (even when it is deserved), knocks fighters when it serves his purpose and offers countless explanations and excuses when one of his investments goes awry (what if Rampage was signed to Elite XC and went on that police chase? I'm sure Dana would have made scathing remarks).

The whole Fedor fiasco is a perfect example. He tore into Fedor and gave him virtually no respect as a fighter. But, we all know that if here were to have signed a contract to fight Randy Couture, White would have been hyping him as one of the best, if not the best, pound-for-pound fighter in the world. I just hate hypocrisy.

I don't know all the details so someone can correct me if i'm wrong, but didn't dana bring in hoyce gracie for just one fight against hughes? I mean, we know he didn't sign a multi-fight deal because he only fought one fight to pump that ppv. Why couldn't they do that with Fedor vs Randy? It would be huge for the whole sport.

Business wise it wouldnt make sense at the moment as Randy left the UFC still the champ even though they have an interim so if Fedor beat Randy than that would make him the UFC champ figerativly speaking based upon the circumstances. I honestly dont see this fght doing more 400K ppv buys and since Randy wants 6+ Mil to fight Dana is not going to fork out 12+Mil for both fighters to fight, if he did what is that saying for the res of the fighters in the UFC, there getting screwed, the UFC can affordto fork out 12+Mil for 2 fighters to fight so why cant they afford to pay us 1 mil etc.. so it wouldnt be a good move business wise for the UFC. They are on the top of the MMA world, let Donald trump fork out 12+ Mil just for 2 fightersto fight, in the end i bet you as in afflictions first ppv they will go under and lose money. You cant just come into this sport as a promotion and expcet immediate gains, the UFC no matter what happends will always survive as they have there followers, everyone always refers to the UFC as the kings of MMA, i hardly ever hear of anyone talking about exlite XC or Afflicion as much as they do the UFC.

White is an asshole!!! He is a pussy for saying these things. I wish that he would meet up with Tito, Tim, Fedor, or Kimbo at a bar one night…if only dreams came true. He talks real tough for someone that has never trained a day in his life. Dana, back up your tough talk. Get in the octagon or shut the f-up and do promote the fighters, not yourself!

I just see Dana White as a politician with a bad mouth. A year ago he can hype a fight with Sylvia and Nogiera saying they were the two best HW's in the world. Silvia leaves the UFC and he says he was always a bumb. I think after tuf2 I stopped being interested in what Dana says.

Nolan put it best by far. It's funny to see him, take back his comments about how Fedor has fought nothing but chumps and he is not a top contender. I hate him.

I cant listen to anyone who says Fedor is top 4 or 5 in Heavyweights. What a politician.

He says he is a topr four or 5 heavyweight. Name even one heavyweight that would challenge him at all.Certainly not Mir or their current interim champion, and those are supposedly the UFC'S two best heavyweights now. Where are all these elite heavyweights at?

I would like to see what Dana has to say about Lesnar and Fedor. I bet he's dumb enough to say that he thinks Brock would win that hands down.

The truth hurts sometimes, but Dana is right. I've been waiting to see Tim get starched since his boring fights in the UFC. He relied too much on his height and reach advantage to stay away from opponents.

He has bigger mouth than brains…he loves to bash everyone and telling their not good enough…just do simple math…fedor vs sylvia 36 secs 1st round > couture vs sylvia 5 round decision….then decide.

You can't get mad at D-White for the shit he says about Kimbo Businessman. EliteXC makes him out to be a great MMA fighter when everyone who knows the sport knows he isn't. Alot of people don't realize Kimbo isn't the real dea so D-Whiteness just educates them. Same with Tito being nothing now.

Dana is wrong about Fedor though, he only talks shit on him cause he hasn't signed him. He had Tito and Tim and let them go for a good reason.

yea i agree wth gobblecock. plus dana just says whats on his mind. and i think dana was willing to fight tito but tito was the one that bitched out. kimbo sux so bad, i hope he loses next fight

I do like that Dana is a real guy, and not a smug phony like the affliction VP. But Dana is a real asshole, and he proves constantly how little he cares about his fighters.

LMAO How can anyone agree with White's comments about Fedor? Fedor will smash anyone in the UFC at any time any where. Also its funny that nobody has commented on this maybe u guys dont know but P4P is not a list that heavyweights are suppsoed to be on. It is made for the lower weight classes. B/c they cant say that Anderson is the best fighter in the world but "P4P" they can. But lets be honest if fedor and Anderson met at like a 210 catchweight Fedor would smash him. I like how Dana said he is top 4-5. Well dana then I guess that means u only have a champion who isnt top 5. And a division full of unranked heavyweights. B/c Fedor has beat and will beat any top heavyweight that wants to rise up and challenge him. It is also funny that he is talking shit about Tim b/c tim wanted to make more money and get the oppurtunity to earn the title of best heavyweight in the world. To be the best u have to beat the best and everyone even dana knows who that is: Fedor. And I am pretty sure that Dana saw Tim whip Nogueria's ass before the brazilian after looking like Sylvias lil bitch for like 3 rounds got a submission. Nog is overrated. This is why ppl dont like Dana b/c he talks shit about anyone who has good points that show the disadvantages that fighting for the UFC has and he talks bad about them to the media. I am really geting sick of him.

The answer to boinks math ? is FEDOR would destroy Randy in 1 min. busmn said it best, and as for Gobblecocks that was the most one sided show, I v'e ever seen. Not a tito fan but tito would have kick his ex-boss ass. Dana should get his ass out of his head (vice versa) He can't say fedor is in the top five cause Fedor beat his current HW champ twice Fedor is the #1 and Mir should get a title shot it should have been AA the pitbull next, but u see how that turned out. And What's up with trying to look tuff u ain't no hitman D. White

Dana White is starting to become kimbo slice on this site we end up talking about his dumb ass more than we do any fighters. I was not a huge fedo fan for a long time but he is the best fighter in the world with andersen silva in a close second. Dana needs to stop bad mouthing everyone because a bridge you burn today is one you may have to cross tommorow, whats with all the hate, just because someone doesnt fight for you (cause you dont pay dick) doesnt mean hes not a good fighter. Watch fedors interview, he pretty much avoids the question and says that danas perogative to say what he likes. You can be a great business but if you have no class no one will respect you, your not bigger than the sport dana so stop trying to be.

I don't know how anyone can say the Fedor is a top 4 or 5 heavyweight! He is the best heavyweight hands down and I think the best p4p fighter. Although- if Fedor and Anderson Silva fought at close to the same weight I do not think Fedor would crush him, I think it would be an epic fight with fedor winning in the later rounds or by decision.
