According to MMAMainia, Mick “Quick” Swick will take on Josh Burkman at UFC Fight Night 12 on January 23 in Hollywood, Florida. This fight will be Mike Swick’s first in the UFC Welterweight division. After six strait wins in the UFC middleweight division, Swick was completely manhandled by Yushin Okami at UFC 69, prompting his decision to drop to welterweight.

No official bout agreements have been signed; however, the match up is more or less a “done deal” from what we hear.

We’re also getting word that the SpikeTV special will take place at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. That is also still being worked on but it seems likely – the venue is available on that Wednesday.

I thought Burkman was a great fighter on TUF2 when he beat Melvin Guillard. But he got manhandled by Karo so I think Swick is going to win this one.

Too be honest swick would get manhandled by karo if they fought. So I cant base the fight on who beat who but on how they match up. Thats why this fight is so awesome. Burkman has that KO power but he couldnt land it on karo. Maybe he can land it on swick. But swick is quick ;) So it is tough to give it to anybody anywhere since they are both so well rounded. If it stays on the feet I would maybe give it to Brkman even though swick has ko power and lightning fast hands and kicks lol. It is gonna be about dominance. Who can push and control the fight. Agression wins it. Ill go Burkman. Swick showed no heart against Okami.

I get the impression that Burkman has a tendency to lose focus, and when he does her turns in a less than stellar performance. If he can stay focused through training, and come in 100% I think he can fight with anyone. I also think if he does this, he will dominate Swick, much like he dominated earlier fights in his career.

I agree that he hasnt looked great in recent fight but the guy does have potential. He was dating Ariani at that time and I cant blame the guy, I would lose focus too.

I thought burkman was the shit coming off the TUF show and get his first couple of wins in the ufc but h runs out of gas way to fast and i think that going to be a big downer vs swick and swick is alot more strong then he looks..In TUF he fight at Light Heavy and in the ufc he has fight in Light Heavy and in Middle weight, so i think swick gots this fight, If he makes it out of round one..

swick was on a roll and on his way to being the middle weight champ before okami put a stop to it i think the only thing swick should watch out for is the take downs but besides that i think he owns this fight… burkman hasn impressed me and everytime he gets a name oppopnent he chokes… this time will be no different
