Video: A Bitter Mike Whitehead Doesn’t Think Rashad Evans Is Good For The Sport

A bitter Mike Whitehead rants after his training partner Wanderlei Silva gets knocked out by fellow TUF 2 roommate Rashad Evans. Or could it just be Mike Whitehead is just still mad at Rashad Evans for eliminating him on The Ultimate Fighter season 2.

bitter isnt the word for this guy hes a hater. im upset about the fights as well but you cant trash everybody for there actions. it dosent mean there not good fighters. the nut grab was unnecessary but he cant win without getting in to somebodys head. good luck to him i think rampage ko's him for the title then ufc 100 i hope to see forrest and him for the gtitle agin.

Yet it's OK for him to openly mock and tease smaller fighters like Jorge on the Ultimate Fighter 2? Whitehead is a piece of shit and seeing him get destroyed by Rashad is still one of my favourite moments of the show. At least he got an interview here but Mike's 15 minutes of fame are up.

i dont think it was right to get a title shot after only three fights. but the ufc might look at the sub loss as a lucky grab because aside from that he was winning the fight. they do it for the money and i think he will be champ til he fights a fighter like nog (at his best). mir will not win the next fight. i hate brock too but he proves me wrong when he fights so.

i don't know who in the ufc will beat lesnar, mir i dout nog won't if he fights like he did against mir.i think gonzaga has the best chance or the two other big wrestlers probally could.

Should he have had a title shot after 2 wins? No one else has. But he did win the fight regardless of whether you think he was winning prior, he won the fight. There are a crowd of heavy weights waiting in line to fight Lesner and it's their job to take that belt. If he doesn't deserve the belt, the HW's will let us know. I don't like Lesner one bit but he fought a quality opponent for the title and won. So far as Rashad is concerned, he's a tool…and the champ. He won and has won every fight he has fought. Whitehead is not even a has been, he's a never was. Why is his interview even on this site? To sum up; Lesner sucks, Rashad sucks, Whitehead sucks, and Tito sucks. I want to focus on good fighters that win fights and are good winners for a change…that's my new years resolution!

thats true, it doesn't matter if he deserved it or not now he has it and its up it the other hw's to prove he doesn't deserve to keep it.

"thats true, it doesn’t matter if he deserved it or not now he has it and its up it the other hw’s to prove he doesn’t deserve to keep it."

this exact same thing applies to the LHW division. If Rashad doesn't deserve the belt, the guys he fights should take it. He sure seems to deserve it in my eyes.

Mike whitehead is a piece of shit. he is a jealous little bitch. hes jus mad that he got his ass beat by Rashad, and that he isnt fightin in the ufc anymore. Mike ur a fucking pussy. – but u are right about Brock Lesnar. he is bad for the sport, not Rashad

i love how everyone's so butt hurt that a former wwe champ is now the ufc champ. get over it if hes not ment to be the champ he will get it taken away in his first defense which will make him about the same level of champion as forest griffin. acually not really forrest won on a shitty decision that should have been a draw. brock knocked out the heavyweight champ in round 2. i say brocks a better champ.

i can see why people think its unfair for him to get a shot so soon but he's the champ now. if mir is really better he will take the title.

I think, as much as I hate to say it, rashad has actually gotten better with his antics..and so has brock for that matter. look at evans' win over chuck, with the whole sanford and son routine while his opponent, a guy who helped create the kind of paychecks rashad now earns, lay ko'd on the floor…no reverence whatsoever, almost laughing and Liddel never trashed him before or after the fight…at least he showed forrest a bit more respect…and since his Lasso trick after the Herring match(due mostly to Heath's pre-fight comments)Brock has shown a bit more respect as well…he'll have to in his fight with Mir, obviously…I just think as these young guys get used to all that winning the big ones brings with it, they'll begin, as they have, to tone it down a bit…and if not….it's gonna come back to them ten fold at some point. that's just mma karma…see,TITO?

i dunno i dont like his style of fighting …but i never liked sugar ray leonard ..or ali as a matter of fact .. if ya know what i mean .but they won fights and titles …i think im like most people who like the stand toe to toe and trade and see who falls first mentality …but thats just me ..

    December 30, 2008 at 1:53 pm

well, that's what makes mma vs boxing, more evolved in terms of fighting…and I like boxing…grew up watching leonard, hearns, hagler, duran, foreman, spinks and even iron mike in his heyday…but tell me what you'd rather do…spend 12 rds getting your skull shaken back and forth with those giant poofy gloves until no longer ABLE to stand, even after they gave you a count? or get into it with another technician who has multiple weapons and fight only until it's clear one of you is in control and has won…without getting back up to get knoked out for another 8 seconds to do it again, and if your opponent gets you in checkmate…you are still able to fight again later that year, hell, sometimes month…somedays it pays to dance

I agree with a lot of mikes points whether he is mad or not I think that how a lot of fighter feel about all of the topics. Lets be honest the only reason brock is gonna be able to beat so many of the UFC HW's is b/c he is soo much bigger. I just think its funny how all the fighters think Brock is bad for the sport and yet there are soo many ppl on here that call ppl retarded for agreeing.

    December 31, 2008 at 6:19 am

Steve, steve, steve….you're usually a pretty smart guy…so what's with the whole"the only reason he's gonna beat so many HW's is 'cause he's so big" comment?! That's WHAT MAKES him a great HW fighter..that's like saying great white sharks are bad for the ocean because they're sooo much bigger than their prey…that's why they exist, man! Apex predators…. until something bigger or more dangerous takes them out. and those people you speak of aren't retarded by any means………….."they're mentally challenged" or "developmentally disabled"…shame on you, really.

Brock Lesnar a great HW???? He beat Heath Herring and Randy Corture who is like 77. Don't call him great after a few fights that is just ignorant. Mir will beat him again…..I'm sick of everyone jumping on the Brock Bandwagon. As for Rashad….he'll get beat in his first title defense. Rashad is a puke and his antics are tasteless.

Let's give Lesnar the benefit of the doubt here. He is going to fight Mir again. This is fight is going to show us where BOTH these guys are. I think Brock will be improved but it looks like Frank is on top of his game. Big strong wrestlers do seem to get subbed alot in the Heavywieght division. They like to post their arms when in the guard and expose themselves to armbars and triangles. I think Brock is a little bit different than the other accomplished collegiate wrestlers that fought before him(Coleman, Kerr, Randleman etc). I don't like Brock but he keeps winning and looks better and better all the time. Kinda like rashad. I think he is a douche but he keeps winning and looking better all the time. Could be we are all upset with the changing of the guard in these 2 divisions. These guys have some big shoes to fill.

my point was he makes people chase him ..he fights backing up…. i dont think i have ever seen him going forward the whole fight …like a chuck or wandy

  21. MW74

    December 31, 2008 at 9:39 am

what are you talking about? look at chuck's fights vs randy…he got on his bike, pedaled backwards until randy chased him, then countered…POW!…Rashad is a complete ASS, but i have to admit, he beat chuck at his own game…but I will agree, it's a lot less entertaing to watch when they run…unless nate quarry is chasing them doing that goofy hand on his face over his arm thing!!:) hah!

brock will be the hw champ for a long time!!!

  23. steve

    December 31, 2008 at 3:20 pm

The point of having weight classes is to have the fighter weigh the same weight but brock weighs more then everyone by like 50 lbs come fight time. The HW division is full of guys who weigh around 230-240 only a few who weigh 250 and lesnar weighs 280 fight time. Point is the reason lesnar has won his fights is because of size not skill. Thats my take on it. I mean couture was dwarfed by him lol. Its like having gsp fight a 205 lb guy. Who do u think has the advantage? Thats what im saying. He will lose either against mir by sub just like the first time.

Well all have been said about Lesnar here, I'm just gonna say I don't like him, he's like the Nikolai Valuev of the MMA, I stick with the guys who thinks that he wouldn't have many chances if he weighed 250 but I don't think we'll ever know don't we? Concerning Rashad I love this guy, to make another comparison I think he could be called the Floyd Mayweather Jr of MMA, people who loves him will buy the fights to see him win and people who hates him will buy the fights to see him lose, either way it sells. Can't say he's not a good seller by that mean

  25. dane drebin

    January 2, 2009 at 8:11 pm

steve u always say lesnar is gunna lose you said randy was gunna use experience and take him apart and randy got knocked out. u said herring was gunna out stirke him and sub him and herring got dropped hard and dominated. why the brock hate man>? he's big so what. he didnt make the weight class he's just owning it is all. cant blame the man for going "those ufc heavies are puny as fuck and i can go in with little experience and dismantle most of the division." if anything thats kinda badass.

for sure mir has a good chance of winning i mean he beat him the first time. but mir was getting thrashed and he admitts that whether people wanna close their eyes when mir got dropped by brock thats all of your choices. the fact is mir was getting dominated and then brock got caught in a leg lock. leg locks dont happen all the time and you can bet that brock ahs drilled it a million times since then. brocks determined to get that loss back and he gets better in every fight. mir looked great in his last fight and this should be an awesome fight.

but one good mir performance isnt going to change the way i think about him. he has been stopped in his career before and unless he jumps on brock fast and subs him quick i think brock is going to take it.

thats not to say i wont be interested in a rubber match if brock wins

I totally agree dane. People hate on Lesnar because he got the title too early but at the end of the day he ko'd Randy Couture and if you beat the champ you deserve to be the champ.

These people may hate Brock but for the 1st in a long long time people are talking about the Heavyweight division (albiet still negative).

With Randy leaving, I don't think he should have been the champ. Either way, I like how if you like Brock, you are on a "bandwagon", but if you don't like him, you're a "hater." This is fucking stupid. The way I feel, I think along with others, is that we don't like the situation moreso than Brock. We don't like the fact that the title was offered to him, by a guy that was what, 60 lbs lighter? All he did was come in and fight. It's not like they would offer him a fight with Mir and he would say, "No, I was hoping to fight someone shittier." He is gonna take whatever competition they offer him. I don't like him because of who he is, but I can admit the amount of potential he has.
