Step in Line…there are far more deserving at a shot than Liddel is…especially for someone on a 5 fight losing streak or something like that. Rampage desrves next shot.

…besides, rashad doesn't exactly fit the desired demographic for my boy chuck…young and faster than him….but I'll still pay to see him fight, just for the off chance one of those sledge hammer haymakers connects!

win or lose it always good to see him fight, he does have a long way to go to get that title back though.

mos' def!…don't know if he can, even…lhw div is looking tougher & tougher every day….maybe Dana will throw his most loyal dawg a bone for a couple fights before clearing out room on a couple of commentator (<- real word?) gigs?….if anyone has earned it it's chuck

i think he will have to fight max 3 fights winning all of them.then he can be considered to have a title shot. only way he gets one by the end of next year(2009). fight the top two contenders and whoop the dog shi# out of them or fight jardine ko him and fight anderson silva and whoop him. that fight would have to be a knock out though. he wouldnt be able to hang around the whole fight with him. none of this is likley just what hoops i think he has to go through to get to rampage and the title. dont see rashad holding it long. goes to machida and then rampage takes it.

i think machida should get a title shot before Liddell

Machida should get a shot if he beats Thiago Silva. Also Rampage Jackson is at the top of the list aswell, after a close decision loss to Griffin and a stunning 1st round knockout of Wanderlei Silva you cant count him out of the picture.

Liddell will never get his title back, if he loses his next fight he is done as a contender and if he wishes to keep fighting he will become a gatekeeper at best. Quite sad really he is a top fighter he just hasn't evolved enough with the sport.

    Luke!…….I am your Father… JK! Sorry, couldn't resist ;)

I don't think it's a matter of not evolving so much as not having a mutant healing factor! Chuck has been through some f#@*!n wars…all 3 fights with rampage, his fights with Randy were no cake walks, he stood and got the crap kicked out of him by Jardine then got KTFO'd by Rashad…his wrestling and takedown defense is great, but even with any of the bjj he has in hi repertoir(<- ?) he's just not that quick anymore, and barring any HGH type help…he's not gonna get faster…his generation of fighters is kind of like the old realm of NFL players who got punished along the way, paving the way, for the sport to be what it has become…yeah, he's technically part of the newschool…but only Barely!…Dammit Dana! Take care of your boy before he ends up Ali/Parkinson's- esque from these younger/stronger/faster guys he's toodumb to not fight

    December 31, 2008 at 5:45 am

LOL… i totally agree Liddell is just past his prime like alot of others that have just paved the way as you said for the newer generation. rampage deserves the next shot.

I still think he needs another fight in between…rashad is quicker than any guy rampage has fought in recent years…I want that fight to go a few rounds…maybe end with a rampage power slam!!!hahahahah then we'll see if rashad feels like doin that wierd nipple pinch/good luck thing or crotch grab and if we see him doing the whole stumbling heart grasp dance it will be because Quinton took his lunch money! And his title back…Then maybe a Q vs Spider???? it's not totally unthinkable, right?!

Rampage will get the next title shot since he just KO wandy in R1 and the winner of the silva and machida fight will get the next title shot. Theres nothing to determine any other fights after that, chuck doesnt deserve a shot really maybe not ever, unless he pulls off a miracle and starts to fight the right way and starts winning again but i doubt that!

the iceman was good in his time, but his time has passed. The fighters have evolved. The Iceman is like Matt Hughes their time is over and they need to retire.

chuck was one of the greatest fighters of all time no body can argu that, but he hasn't got that same skill as he did before. we all know that he could become the old chuck again but he chooses not to, his next fight will tell it all. i think chuck just doens't have the heart anymore.

  27. Tong Po

    January 2, 2009 at 10:46 am

no way can anyone say chuck was one of the greatest figters of all time. When he went to pride to fight rampage he got destroyed. Then rampage destroyed him again.

  28. dane drebin

    January 2, 2009 at 5:33 pm

    tong po so what!

chucks beaten randy twice, wandy, tito twice, babalu twice, belfort, and totally cleaned out his division.

funny u would use him losing to rampage twice as a way to bring him down. rampage lost twic to wandy and just knocked him out. chuck was the most dominate champ of his time in 205 and proved that by beating wand the guy who was the other dominate champ when he was. if he could win a fight with dan henderson it would really cement his legacy. chuck my never beat rampage but he is getting old give the guy a break he was the man in his prime and nobody can deny that. everyone loses. chuck will easily make the ufc hall of fame and be remembered as one of the best forever.

  29. Luke

    January 3, 2009 at 1:04 am

I dont think Liddell could beat Henderson but i would love to see that fight. The striker with a great takedown defence against the wrestler with a monster right hand, that would be one hell of a fight.

As for his title hopes im not so sure he could ever get back up there. Think about it the 2 fighters at the top of 205 in most peoples eyes are Rashad Evans and Rampage Jackson, 2 men who have already beaten Chuck, and not by some fluke either both fighters have knocked him out, sh*t Rampage beat him down twice and Rashad left him a mumbling mess of the ring floor.

  30. Naco21

    January 3, 2009 at 1:26 am

Chuck could definitely get the belt back. He is not too far gone and out of his game for that in my opinion. The guy is still hungry and he still has KO pwr in those hands. He would need to tighten his skills up a little cause he was getting too confident maybe. It might not happen but it could. Even if he gets destroyed in his next fight and retires I will still call him one of the greatest…to say he was not one of the greatest fighters of all time is ridiculous!

  31. Ryan S

    January 3, 2009 at 3:31 am

I never liked him that much, but I agree with Naco and Dane on this one. Saying that he is not good because he lost to Rampage twice is as stupid as saying Couture sucks for losing to Lesnar. Chuck just has to alter his gameplan a little. He needs to learn how to push the pace moreso than rely on counters.

  32. STEVEO

    January 3, 2009 at 3:14 pm

im a huge chuck fan but if he thinks hes anywhere near the title picture right now evans must have hit him harder than i thought. Rampage, Machiada, Silva (T), even andersen silva deserves a shot before chuck, hes gotta win a few fights before he gets back into that demographic in my eyes

  33. dane drebin

    January 3, 2009 at 3:28 pm

he's a former champ and a damn popular one who puts butts in seats. you better believe that if h won two impressive wins dana would give him a title shot. he's dana's boy. mir was a former champ and while looking like shit had two good wins over hardonk and brock and even tho everyone was saying he shouldnt have a title shot he got it and now everyones all over his nuts. u better believe if chuck beat a nobody then a good fighter then won the title everyone would be right back on the chuck bandwagon praising him as their savior.

I LLIKE WHAT YOU SAID DANE. GOOD POINTS. MIR HAS PEOPLE ON THE JOCK AGIN BY DEFEATING A NOBODY AND WITH LESNAR WHO AT THE TIME EVERYBODY THOUGHT WAS A NOBODY. ALL CHUCK NEEDS TO DO IS STOP LEADING OF HIS COMBO'S WITH HIS HAND LOW. THATS HOW BOTH KO'S HAPPENED. PRESS A LIL MORE WITH THE JAB AND USE HIS KICKS. HE IS A PURPLE BELT IN BJJ DONT FEAR THE GROUND. I CAN DEF. SEE HIM IN THE RUNNINGS AGIN. I THINK HE SHOULD FIGHT KJ AGIN. PROVE GREG JACKSONS FIGHTERS ARE NOT ALL THAT TOUGH AND THAT GREG JACKSON DOSE NOT HAVE "THE BLUE PRINT TO BEATING CHUCK LIDDELL". RASHAD VS. RAMPAGE GREAT FIGHT FOR NEXT TITLE IN MY OPINON.
