UFC 112 “Invincible” was dealt a brutal blow today, Vitor Belfort has been forced out of his UFC 112 fight against Anderson Silva with some sort of shoulder injury.

“He was training but not using the arm for a long time because of the injury, he said he’d stop for a while. He said he’d have it scanned to know how bad it is, but I don’t talk with him for 15 days and I don’t know about the results” [Tatame]

UFC President Dana White has confirmed the bad news, but no replacement has been named.

I bet they wished they still had Henderson in the UFC, it was a mistake to let him go. A rematch would have made that fight very interesting.

Josephbriggs, it seems impossible that you call Anderson Silva "the best fighter alive" but you still think that a guy who has lost 5 of his last 12 fights – VitorBelfort- would give him a good fight. Don't buy into Dana White's marketing, Silva isn't even the best fighter in the UFC. He just wants him to be – if he was that good, he would fight real competition in 205's.

Dave, ur an idiot. silva is hands down, the best ufc fighter. and hes either #1 or #2 in the world. marketing has nothing 2 do with it. but 'monte'…how is chael ruining the credibility of mma? r u joking? he is exactly wat mma is about…hes smart, tough as nails, more heart than anyone, great conditioning, solid all around skills, etc etc etc

First of all, calm down TJ, or your parents may take away your computer. Second, Machida would wipe the floor with Silva. The guy that Silva beat to begin his rise to over rated fame was Rich Franklin…Machida Koed him in just his 3rd MMA event. His KO of Rashad was better than anything Silva has ever accomplished. The most exciting thing that Silva has done was get submitted by Ryo Chonan via Flying Scissor Heel Hook. Oh yeah his jab KO of Griffen was great to…give me a break. Marketing has everything to do with it because ever since Silva got by Henderson, he has fought guys who were unproven (ie Cote, Leites) and James Irvin?? Come on – this is the best the UFC has for Anderson Silva? I'm not saying that Silva isn't one of the best, but he is Dana White's artificial Fedor.

Gentleman, please lets stop this talk… Anderson Silva is the "Bret the Hitman Hart" of UFC…the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be. His striking in second to none and i would bet my life that he was going to knockout vitor belfor in spectacular fashion. Chael sonnen? extremely great fighter…good enough to beat Silva? absolutely not. Bottom line— silva must float around weight classes in order to deliver solid fights to the UFC. I do not see him losing any fights this year.

Chris…..finally someone who's not a moron. I agree Vitor had a punchers chance of beating Silva at best. Silva is the pound for pound king right now. The Vitor fight wouldn't have lasted long. You can't strike against Silva….he has proved that. And Sonnen….this guy would be a joke going against Silva. Sonnen is good but he's not even close to being ready for Silva. Silva needs to drop the middleweight belt and go after the 205 belt.

Muay Thai… your point and my point exactly… You cant strike with silva. Sonnen is tough as nails but i know he would get overwelmed by silva. i would love to see sivla go after the 205 belt…first things first i want to see the rematch of machida and shogun… i bet on machadia in the last fight and won by the skin on my teeth. That should be a great rematch, that i belive Machida will win convincingley…

Sonnen will not submit him and will not knock him out. So is this gonna be a boring ass fight kinda like Thaleis leitus Vs. Silva.

As good as Sonnen's takedowns are, I don't see him taking down Anderson at will. And even if he did, Anderson is not just going to lay on his back. With his long limbs, he can triangle you or he is able to put the body lock on…plus don't forget his elbows. Plus even when he is aggressive, he is more of counterstriker. Silva will KO him in the first round. Even though Vitor has that many losses, he does stand the best chance of any UFC 185'er in beating Silva. Vitor has the talent. The problem with Vitor is his head and because of that , you'll never know which Vitor is going to show up. I agree with Chris, I don't see anyone beating him any time soon. As far as him going to 205, he won't do that because him and Machida are close friends. If he did go to 205, he would take that belt to. Who could bear him? Rashaad-no way. Rua-no. Rampage-Silva would send him back to making movies. He already beat Forrest. The only one that would be interesting would be Machida but they will no fight each other.

Moving up a weight class is no simple thing as anyone who knows the Fight Game will agree. It has destroyed the careers of many notable fighters (Roy Jones Jr.) and wreaks havoc with timing. Just because someone dominates their weight class does not mean they should move to another. I do think that Silva and all the Belt Holders should have a minimum of four bouts per year, this current schedule is a joke and mirrors the sad state of Pro Boxing.

i dunno bjj brown belt… a dehydrated travis lutter took anderson down at will. i think anderson will win because he has 5 rounds to catch him and we know chael decisions everyone.

Damien Maia is in! Just read it on UFC facebook page.

If Damien can get him down, it could get interesting. The problem is Maia's stand-up. he looked better last week but I am not convinced that Silva won't knock him out before Maia takes him down. If Nate knocked him out, Anderson should as well.
