Carlos Condit and Paulo Filho had a lot to prove at tonight’s WEC event at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Both fighters made quick work of there opponents, securing their place in the WEC. Paulo Filho made his US debut tonight against Joe Doerksen, taking the TKO win late in the first round. Filho the BJJ master choose to use his striking ability to get the late round victory as he landed blow after blow before the ref stopped the fight. Paulo Filho fills the void and is now the WEC Middleweight Champion. Condit successfully defended his WEC Welterweight title against Brock Larson, securing the armbar in the first round, Larson refused to tap so the referee ended it.

Dana White needs to recognize both these fighters should have UFC contracts. If you ask me, BJ Penn and Carlos Condit would be a great fight to fill the UFC Lightweight Title if it gets striped from Sean Sherk.

Filho is impressive and the UFC made a mistake for signing him to the WEC. He is going to be a UFC champ one day.

i didn't think Filho was impressive this time. i'm a big fan of pride and i thought that didnt look like he was in his best shape and i dont think he fought as well as im used to. maybe he didnt take it seriously this time.

I agree with you mikey….probably because he didn´t made a fight in one year….just a little bit rusty……but he´s ufc top contender level, that´s for sure!

never saw filho fight before but he looked kindof short to me. doesnt he seem a little small for a middleweight? how tall is the guy anyway?
