WEC News: Filho vs. Sonnen Off Again, Filho Off To Rehab

Chael Sonnen vs. paulo filho

paulo filho

On, Then off, On again, Now Officially OFF – The truth comes out, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) have officially announced on their website, that the rematch between WEC middleweight champion Paulo Filho and Chael Sonnen scheduled for March 26 has been canceled due to Filho checking into to Rehab for a undisclosed substance abuse problem.

Ed Soares, Filho’s Manager:

“This is horrible news, but we’re proud of him for stepping up and recognizing his problem,” said Filho’s manager, Ed Soares. “At times like this you realize who your true friends are and who really supports you, and the people around him now are supporting him and are gonna be with him when he comes back. Paulo apologizes to his fans but he thanks them for their support and he promised that the next time they see him, he’ll be back at 100 percent and will be the Paulo Filho everyone expects to see.”

Bad news, Paulo Filho’s a great fighter. With his recent lackluster performances in the WEC, it was obvious something was wrong.

Unsubstantiated rumors were circulating that he is in rehab for and addiction to “roids”. I’m sure we will find out Filho’s drug of choice soon.

ROIDS is a hella of a drug….Like the hulk but without the green. Oh forgot about the cancer and body part shrinkage.

well, odds are if hes off to rehab its because hes taking pain meds, or coke. A fighters life is a tough one so just like pro wrestlers they depend on something to get them buy my money is on one of those too. I dont really think you can go to rehab for steroids, just seems like one of thoes things you either do or dont, cant really see an addiction there.

I don't think its roids because they said he was depressed. I agree with Steveo, Columbia is pretty close so I'll bet he's doing coke. If not maybe pain meds.

i think he is overranked maybe in the top ten but no way in the top 5 let alone #2.he should never have said he would fight after the last time he with drew from the fight.

He says he never wants to fight Anderson Silva so I don't know where his career is going to take him. My opinion is that its either coke or alcohol.

Steroids are not an addictive substance. I have injected Test cyp for seven years for HRT. Testicular atrophy is a possible side effect as is depression, But be realistic here, When have you ever heard….."oh, I'm addicted to hormones". Pain killers seem to be a very popular choice in the fight game right now. I'm guessing script pain killers or marijuana!

u can get addicted to any drug man and steroids are one of them. roided out dudes dont like to see their body's shrinking and their muscles going away so it drives them to take more. maybe u can say they arent addicting when u stop using them.

Like Danedrebin stated how can you say something is not addictive and you've been on it(the juice) for years now. Stop taking it and let us know how you feel then.

I have been off of them. My size and strength don't change because my diet and nutrition are there. I am on year round because I only produce 60-100 ng/dl on my own due to an injury. When I'm on now at 200mg/wk, my levels are 1000-1200ng/dl….which is just a bit above the high average of 970. I have been on as much as 800mg/wk test and 400mg/wk Deca and came off fine. The reason people atrophy or "crash" when they come off is a lack of knowledge, specifically in regard to anti-estrogens and blocking receptors. Ignorance is bliss!!!! When you sound off like an authority about something that you know nothing about……well, as I said, ignorance is bliss!!!!! The thing that cracks me up is the guys who cry "cheaters" for using Test are the same idiots spending thousands of dollars at GNC buying Hormone precursors that are supposed to boost test production……they are trying to accomplish the same thing, they are just spending $800 a month for shit that don't work and I'm spending $25 a month for shit that does!!!!

Depends on what your taking. Some depots such as Sustanon or Testosterone Cypionate take weeks to build levels in your bloodstream and weeks to dissipate after you come off whereas suspension takes only hours to enter the bloodstream. This is one reason that knowledge is power. You have to research and learn how steroids affect your body and how to utilize these effects to your advantage. For instance, when you're on cycle, you stop producing testosterone on your own. After you come off of a long chain test, you have a period of time that you have excess test and your nuts aren't producing yet. Excess test in the body converts to estrogen(aromatization). Now you have all of these open receptor sites and your body is flooded with estradiol. This is where the anti-aromatase and anti- estrogens come in to play. Without knowledge….you're going to be in trouble! I am not saying that I condone illegal use of any substance, but before someone speaks with authority on a topic like steroids or HGH, they should research for awhile, not just blah, blah, blah….cuz I heard it on the news, so it's gotta be true. The Web is full of great bodybuilding forums, like musclechemistry.com, where you can join free and have access to a forum that will answer every question about bodybuilding, nutrition, diet and anabolics that you could possibly ask.
