World Cagefighting Organization (WCO) Event Cancelled
Tonight’s hyped World Cagefighting Organization (WCO) event from the San Diego Sports Arena was abruptly cancelled by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) after the full funding for the fighter purses was not made. Valor fighting was the promoter the the event.
“At the eleventh hour, the commission was informed there were insufficient funds to pay the fighters,” CSAC executive director Armando Garcia told Sherdog.com. “In the end, we had to cancel the event.”
The WCO event was plagued from the start, with fighters not getting cleared by the CSAC in time for the fight and disorganized weigh-ins.
Fighter are required by the CSAC to receive 20% of their contracted purses by January 18.
The WCO event featured named fighters like Joe Riggs, Renato “Babalu” Sobral, Vernon “Tiger” White, Ricco Rodriguez, Mike Kyle, Mark Kerr and David “The Crow” Loiseau.

The WCO regretfully informs you that the MMA show titled “The Return” at The San Diego Sports Arena has been cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.
Our sincerist apologies to all of the fighters and sponsors who supported the event. The WCO did everything in it’s power to assure this event took place. Unfortunately the commission decided to cancel the show in the final hour.
